September 24, 2010 - West Jordan vs Taylorsville

Craig Adams - R, Wade Potter - L, Pete Harmon - U, John Braun - H, Tim England - B

Game was close at half; 14-all... then West Jordan scored 35 unanswered points in the second half. We had a running clock for the last minute of the game but I decided not to wind it. Gave Taylorsville the full minute. They marched down and threw a hail Mary to the end zone on the final play of the game. Result: touch down, but wait, there's more! Both teams were upset at us. The WJ assistant thought there was pass interference that was not called and the Taylorsville coach didn't like me because we wouldn't allow them to kick an extra point 'for the score board'.... odd ending. Nice night weather wise and as a crew we did work well.

Sept 24, 2010 - Sky View vs Logan

Craig Adams - R, Randy Galbraith - L, Larry Bowersox - U, Kevin Cunningham - B, Richard Eames H

I kind of thought this game would be more... um... crowded, meaning a cross town rivalry with bragging rights... but it was a fair crowd at best. The game was a little intense with the players but nothing got out of hand. A night where the weather was better than the game. Logan won.

September 10, 2010 - Viewmont vs Layton

Van Mortensen - L, Steve Owen - U, Eddie Lewis - B, Jonni Kennicott - H

The game was fun. A see-saw battle where it looked like Layton was going to take off.. then Viewmont came roaring back. The game was decided on the last play of the game with Layton batting down a pass in the end zone to seal the win. Fun guys to work with as well. Chris Reid came by to offer some suggestions to the wings and this photo was all I had (from my cell phone) to capture the memory.

September 3, 2010 - Weber vs Davis

Craig Adams - R, Justin Robinson - H, Bart Heslington - L, Scott Zellmer - B, Dave Stireman - U

I had a blast with these guys. Great people to work with. The game was difficult to watch as Weber's field is a bit off from the normal north and south configuration. Both Dave and I had problems seeing ANYTHING for the first quarter when looking to the west. I should have worn sun glasses. The game was intense as Weber was trying to make a statement, but Davis has a deep and talented team. They ground out a victory of 30-7.

Well.. batting 1.000 for the year. Two games: Two overtimes in a row.. this one with a double OT. We had a lightning delay to start but the weather calmed and was a comfortable night. Logan won 30-26.

August 20, 2010 - West v Juan Diego

The Crew
Clockwise starting top left
Mark Milner - U, Dave Pedrazas - B, Mark Elkins - H, Bruce Denning - L, Craig Adams - R
A great way to start a season: an overtime game where the underdog wins. I forgot my camera..and had to use my cell phone.. but I had 'something'. West wins in OT. Crowds pour out. Nutty. First time working with Bruce Denning (his first varsity game) and Mark Milner. Had a fun time.

November 14, 2009 - Rich v Duchesne - State 1A Final

Craig Adams - R, Drew Weidman - U, Dave Stender - H, Don Hulet - L, Jeff Christensen - B
1A - State Championship 2009
Rich v Duchesne

All in all, I had a great year.... 3 championship games: RMFL, WFL and a State High school final. Great year indeed. Great people to work with also.

The championship game, as you can tell, was held on a blizzardy day at Alta High school. The field was shoveled while we were playing. It was still a memorable day.. one that will not be forgotten.

November 6, 2009 - Springville vs Woods Cross

Joe Lance - H, Kasey Cullimore - U, Jim Kilburn - L, Craig Adams - R, Ken Carlson - BJ
This game was instense. I think the biggest thing about this game was the fact the losing team was the one that played better outside the red zone but could not score when it needed to most.

Coach Fernandes and I go back to jr high and high school... and tonight.. was not the best reunion we've had. I don't hold any hard feelings. I appreciate a competitve person. I wish both teams could have won tonight.. it was a hard fought game.

October 23, 2009 - Juan Diego vs Morgan

Jaxon Karren - B, Craig Adams - R, Tyler Charlesworth - U, Jay Weight - H, Larry Killips - L

On paper.. this was going to be a close game. On the scoreboard.. it was not. I have to admit.. I thought Juan Diego was a better team. It was close until the 2nd half.. and it became a 34-0 blowout. It was a nice, smooth game, from my point of view. I had the first time to work with Jaxon Karren.. and the first time at Juan Diego's field. I have a game film from 2002 that Juan Diego has promised me since then.. and I hope to someday get. It was from my first state championship. Someday...

Next week.. PLAYOFFS!!!!

October 16, 2009 - Bonneville vs Sky View

Todd "Nuke-em" Noker - H, Wade Potter - L, Craig Adams - R, Drew Weidman - U, Bart Poll - B

I am doing both teams this year for the third time each.. how fitting they would be playing each other. I have been fortunate to not have any situations arise that would make things difficult as that can happen when teams see you too many times in a short amount of time. I was surprised that Bonneville won. I really thought they had a better defense.. but that Sky View's offense was too potent for them. Well, Bonneville's win came off of special teams and defense.. so I was wrong. Bonneville held on for the win. I owe Drew a milkshake. We had a play that I hadn't called in a long time and went the wrong direction due to thinking it was offensive.. and then after telling Drew and confirming it with Bart, walked away.. announced the penalty.. then had the sinking feeling of .. oh.. I am wrong.. I was wrong. True to form.. I told Drew.. and we lived with it. Cost the other team 2 1/2 yards. Not a big distance but the principle. Thanks Drew.

Nice Boa ... found in the locker room to loosen up the pre-game chatter.
